13 Thursday: To Play or Not To Play

13clownx.gif

1. This is the time of year when I can't tell the difference between a monarch butterfly on its way to Mexico and falling leaves when they cross my path.

2. Favorite word this week: Shenanigan

3. Last week I went for my scheduled dentist appointment for the dreaded root canal. It felt like I had won the lottery when an x-ray was taken and I was told I didn't need one after all and got sent home. Of course that was all I needed to justify spending $60 at the mall on my way home. Just think of all the money I saved.

4. My overworked mouse arm is also the arm I use to carry my grandson Bryce around and the arm I use to do acupressure reflexology ( like acupuncture except you use your fingers to press points on the body to stimulate healing), so no wonder it's tired and sore.

5. You know the saying "It's Greek to me," I just changed it to "It's Geek to me," meaning I don't have a clue what widgets and modules are.

6. It is widely assumed that Shakespeare introduced more words into English literature than all the other writers of his time combined, over 1,700 by some estimates.

7. Many of his phrases, like wild goose chase, what the dickens, one fell swoop, dead as a doornail, much ado about nothing, etc. are used to this day.

8. British journalist in a red convertible writes about Floyd HERE.

9. When I image google the word "words," I get THIS.

10. Bryce's current favorite words, which he says repeatedly while pointing: DOG and TRUCK.

11. When my son Josh was three years old, he said, "Mum, cats are polite and dogs are mean." He later told me that he thought all cats were girls and all dogs were boys. Kitty was his first word.

12. Speaking of words, I love to play THIS. Test your own vocabulary and leave me your score.

13. All is well that ends well. (Shakespeare said that.)

More playing 13 Thursday HERE.

285! You didn't tell us yours!

Shenanigan is a great word....I don't get to use it enough!

Happy TT!

I love your post! I love the word shenanigan.

Hugs & Happy TT.

The reflexology link didn't work, I was disappointed! I learned shiatsu a few years ago, back when I was still married, I still use some of the ones you can do on yourself.
I loved the vocabulary game, got a 270, not bad since it's quarter of 3 in the morning!

I loved the write up about Floyd. I felt the same way when I first visited.
I did poorly on the vocabulary game. Another great TT!! xo

My score on the game was 225 first (and only) time through. Thanks for the link.

Love shenanigan too...and I now love "it's geek to me"!

#1 was very descriptive.

I fixed the link, Becky. You can also image google "reflexology foot chart" and get some good charts on the points.

My highest score at the game was 345 but I've been playing it awhile now. It's better than a shooting guns video game but takes the same skill to process and click fast.

Oh my goodness, I use the phrase much ado about nothing at least twice a day! ;-) I love #1.

Well at least he didn't invent "what's it all about, Alfie?" That's my theme saying.

Click the link http://www.pathguy.com/shakeswo.htm. It's amazing how many sayings he said first that I thought were more contemporary.

In French and German when you don't understand a thing we say, "it's chinese to me" ! Lots of things indeed sometimes. I wished my arm would hurt because a I carry a grandson around, but I have only cats to carry and they don't like it, lol !

once upon a time my blogger alias was shenanigans :)

13 annoyances after 27

I still think all cats are female and all dogs are male...

Shenanigan is a great word. I use it way too much.

My score: Only 195. But I got confused and wasted a lot of time so I will take it again later. Betcha Kyla could do better...

Love your number one and the magnetic poetry pic. Will have to check out the game!

Thanks for stopping by....345!! Now I feel challenged!

Cool. You're lucky to see butterflies. Happy TT!

"ALLS WELL THAT EBDS WELL" I believe is the correct quote---and it was the name of one of his plays....! (It may need some punctuation though...lol)
I love the word Shenanigans....
As always Colleen....a delightful TT. I'm so happy for you that you DID NOT have to have a Root Canel. And I understand rewarding yourself for that....!
My score was 55...but one of them I clicked the wrong letter even though I had the right answer....! I hate tests!

That should be an "N" as in Ends Well...! Sorry about that.

#12 - I bookmarked that so I could look at it later. Just what I need - another game to waste my time....LOL

mmmm, pickles!

Funny, I've always had girl cats & boy dogs!

#5 - widgets are little "programs" that add features to your blog. Shopping carts, visitor counters, spam killers, search engines, etc. Modules? Don't know about that one .....

I played it twice and got 260 each time. I'm not very fast, even when I know the words!

Ooooo - online Balderdash! I got 235. We used to play that as a drinking game in college with a dictionary and pads of paper. Pick out a random real word, everyone wrote a made up definition and then the picker (who selected the word) wrote out the real definition and threw them all into a hat. Mixed them up - laid them out and everyone else had to guess the real answer. If you got it wrong you drank. If you happened to come up with the real definition you got to make everyone else drink. Who says drinking in college isn't beneficial?!

285 - great fun and will play this again.

laughed at josh thinking all cats are girls. does he have a cat or dog?

hope you are getting along fine with joe gone. i think of you guys when i see the moon.

It's been fun to watch the moon change and in a new place every night, just like us. I did get a letter from Joe, so that helps. So far, the separation anxiety leading up to the separation (and the actually morning of) has been harder than the actual doing of it.

Today I scored 315!!!
