My mind is a thousand piece puzzle

I'm putting together for a perfect fit

But the scene starts to waiver
when my thoughts begin to wander

Wondering how I can keep from breaking it.

Post note: Mosaic art, displayed on the side of a gas station in Blacksburg, was done by local art students.

How nice of the gas station to host local art. Maybe more stations ought to do this...if we're going to pay $4 a gallon, wouldn't it be nice to think that part of it was sort of the price of admission to a gallery?!

They have Mosaic art in Disney and I loved it. I think it is great they did it at a gas station. Why not!!? They are the ones who are making the most money in the world. xo

The rest of the gas station is pretty low end. The side where the art is has tables and chairs to sit on and the bathroom door is decorated too. You can see the handle in the last photo. I want to go back and explore more angles. I had seen it for many years when I used to work in Blacksburg but only stopped yesterday when Joe and I were there for a dentist appointment and some acupuncture for me.

hey colleen. just wanted to let you know i posted an update on the kitten, and your comment from the former post hit the nail on the head.

when I saw the word tiles, I thought it was you and Mara doing the art//hee hee

Since the individual gas station owner is NOT the person making the big bucks at the current prices, I think it is wonderful that he/she lends the space for such unique and beautiful art.
Thanks for sharing it with us. When am I ever going to learn to take my camera along????

In one particularly manic (and creative) period, I ripped out the tile over my stove and crafted an elaborate floral mosaic on the wall. In 36 hours of non-stop motion. There was a small, wee benefit to the bi-polarness of my youth.

I was ready to do the entire shower wall in an under the sea themed mosaic next, but you know...the downside of the mania hit, I got medicated, we moved to Raleigh...stuff happens. ;-)

Don't you just love finding random acts of art in the most unexpected places?

I've always loved mosaics...now I am going to remember this, and next time I have the opportunity.... use scrabble tiles in something like this.

Let start collecting Scrabble games from Yard Sales!

I've seen mosaic art in schools, but usually not done by the students themselves, and then for this to be done at a gas station, wow! Very cool.
