Somebody Left the Porch Light On

Washington D.C. has it's cherry blossoms. We have forsythia bushes.

They surround our porch, casting their buttercup glow, their 100 watt sun-loving gold, and wide-eyed early spring bloom.

For the next couple of weeks we’ll be wearing sunglasses.

I love Forsythia! We had a few big bushes of them around our home in Tennessee. It was awesome. They just light up the world!

:(( ours is doing poorly. we pruned it too late last year, and only 2 branches have flowers (it blooms on last year's wood). part of it is no longer in sunlight due to nearby evergreens. time to transplant it and give it new life next spring. i can hardly wait to see a brilliant yellow shrub! lucky you.

I remember spring mornings picking up John from your house, and not only the bushes at the porch, but the whole parkway would have many spring blooms of multi colored shapes and sizes. I always enjoyed the ride over, always made for a better day, a little magic !

Do you also remember the muddy pathway to from the driveway to the house? I hope not so much. We planted grass seed but it's not taken off in a big way there.
