In with the New…Out with the Old
In April when others are doing taxes, I’m counting a different kind of yearly income; the heads of daffodils and the buds of tulips. Blinded by the exploding gold of forsythia against a rich blue sky, I try not to be greedy for purple, and as I watch the return of green, take inventory of the kale in the garden, I find myself feeling bad for people on Wall Street bidding on paper commodities.
A Bright Idea
Daylight Savings
in the bank
is a glorious
free commodity
ready to spend
to dispel the dark
deficit of winter’s
poverty
Post note: The celtic cross in the photo was created by my friend Jayn, a potter and sculptor who I wrote about here. She made it as a gift to me in honor of my brothers, Jim and Dan, who both died in 2001.

How lovely! Here in North Florida, lots of our flowers have already bloomed and gone. Enjoy!
Here from Michele's.

Thanks Janet for reminding me to mention the celtic cross. I'll add something about it on the front page.

I love your beautiful cross.
I was out earlier walking the pups around making photos of even the weed flowers. I love it....the redbuds, the dogwoods, the daffodils, the tulips...what a gift to see the spring again! I have even planted geraniums in the front of the house...probably early but I couldn't stand it.

It's a very cool cross. It kind of looks soft and edible--like it was sculpted out of cookie dough.

I would love to send a card with that poem scrawled across its front to every person who can't appreciate the levity and lightness of daylight savings time.
Seriously.

Your post was charming, but I am jealous. You have a flower garden. I hope I have a garden some day! At least by next year.

I just counted my tulip bulbs and it looks like maybe 15 survived and will be showing their faces pretty soon.
PS I never knew Jayne made that stone...it is gorgeous. Please tell her so. xoox
