My Yard is an Uninhabitable Planet
Sipping tea on the couch while looking out my window, I can just barely see the footprints made yesterday when my husband and I went out walking in the snow. They look like craters on the surface of the moon.
The morning sun across the stretch of yard where my sons used to play soccer is making it glisten. No one has ventured out into that part of the yard since the snow fell. It’s uncharted territory and could almost look inviting except for the howling wind that woke me too early, which is now catching snowflakes and throwing them around in a chaotic frenzy like a dustbowl storm across a prairie.
My down parker, like a space suit, is resting on the chair, but only the dog is brave enough to venture out.

Roanoke is my mother's home town. She keeps wondering how much snow they received. As I predicted we had flurries here early this morning but now the sun is trying to shine through the clouds and the radar tells me the snow has once again missed us. How much snow did Roanoke and the area around there get?

I can't imagine having that much snow! here we dont even get a dusting. IF we get snow.. It melts bbefore it even hits the ground.. We've been in the 70s almost all winter.. Yesterday we actually stayed at 50.. That was a surprise and last night we hit 28 that was the coldest its been all winter..

We got about 6 inches here in Floyd. It may be a little less in the Roanoke Valley. We did eventually take the poor dog for a walk!

snow is 90% pain in the butt, but the other 10% of the time, when you are inside looking out, it truly is beautiful. michele says hi..

how fun! That's a great picture. I know those of you who are snowed in think people like me are nuts, but I'm truly jealous of all that snow! Michele sent me.

That is your dog? I am going to look through your archives for more pictures. What a cutie. Could you tell me what kind of dog he/she is? I think those might be my favourite (along with shar pei's) but I don't know what they are called.
