The Company I Keep

At Oddfella’s Cantina this past Friday night, the music was Irish and the special was halibut. We were a table of 9, about half women, half men, ranging in age from 25 to 65. I passed a notebook around the table for a new take on “10 Things I’ve Done That You Probably Haven’t.” The question posed was “Name One Thing You’ve Done That I Probably Haven’t.” Below are the answers that were given (one being mine):

~ I pet and fed an eel in a fresh water stream in Papua New Guinea that emptied into the sea.
~ Adventuring in college, I crawled through a 100 ft. tunnel in a cave on my stomach that was so narrow and small that I could not lift my shoulder while dragging myself through.
~ I prayed at the Wailing Wall and had a Mexican date me just cause I was a red-head.
~ I wrote 50 songs
~ I participated in a peyote ceremony with the Northern Cheyenne in Montana.
~ I walked at treetop level on a walkway in a temperate rain forest in Australia.
~ I rode at full gallop on a mountain pony at 11,000 feet in the Andes without holding on.
~ I birthed 5 sons at home, the first two being twins!
~ One cold winter, it warmed up enough that I ice skated naked on a frozen pond.
Feel free to add one of yours...

I have a loving family!
I flew on a 2-man plane in Alaska at 1 O'clock in the morning and it was light outside.

Who are these people???

I want to hear more about the peyote ceremony and the naked skating.

:-)

Can we tell if we know which one is yours? :-}

HA! I'm laughing outloud. And I thought of you when I posted the entry. Yes, a photo does exist. And I wouldn't call it a pretty sight.

I did one of these a few months ago...http://millers-adayinthelife.blogspot.com/2005/03/10-things-about-me.html ...it was a lot of fun...and I guess I've done some pretty odd things that I didn't really realize until I had written them down ;0)

I fainted on the Observation deck of the Empire State Building in NYC in 1971.

I was run over by the Horry County Sheriff's jeep while sleeping on the beach at Myrtle Beach.

I tandem nursed my two sons until they were each ready to stop totally on their own without coaxing(both somewhere in the age 5 vicinity).....all of this while working four days a week outside the home! I had to pump two times a day while at work. It was well worth all the hard work it took and I'm glad I did it. P.S. I also perservered through a successfull v-bac delivery of my second son!

I rode on the back of a bike in a childs seat from Hingham MA to Billerica MA at age 6 - 45 miles one way!

I ran all the way down a hicking trail from the top of Mt Monadnock (NH) to the bottom at about age 9.

I was served a Magritta at dinner in Tiawanna (sp) at age 11.

I have so many.... once I started thinking.
