The moon:
she says, "the moon"
and saying "the moon" says
that saying "the moon" says "the moon" says
The Moon.
-a poem written for me by one of my favorite teachers at Hollins, Jeanne Larsen, who translates poems (lots about the moon) written by ancient Chinese women and who laughed when I asked her to write a poem about the moon at our end-of-semester poetry eruption where we had a spontaneous poetry booth like Natalie Goldberg wrote about in 'Writing down the Bones.'
Especially apropo considering the brilliant ring the other night that foretold the rain we had ALL DAY yesterday.

I can't remember when I took this photo, just used it to go with the poem, which is one I wrote during Joe's month long sit when we were having our moon dates.

Yes, the moon is so original it is hard to capture all of it's identity. xo Is this a pic of tonight's moon? xo

We were just looking at the moon tonight. It was hanging heavy in the sky and screamed, "I'm a PLANET!" So neat.

Yes. Trying to translate the miracles that defy words is some kind of soul work.
