Yes, I've always been more drawn to the reflections and shadows of the material world than to actual matter. I think poetry is one example of that kind of indirect focus.

Ah, Floyd's looking sweet and cozy. I'm so glad that you're such a prolific photographer!

How lovely!
What a nice tour. I liked the barber shop the best... especially the black and white tiled floor.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed walking down your streets looking in the windows without having to leave home or struggle for a parking place.
Hugs and blessings,

So THAT's where my Muse went! I've been looking all over for her, and it seems she has moved to Floyd. And opened a shop. How fickle of her...

i am sure floyd is extra cozy during christmas... i love all these shots!
i loved our old town at christmas. we lived in the oldest county in our state, and all the buildings downtown were very historic and well-preserved. some were even still log. at christmas they decorated with greenery, lanterns, wreaths, candles, etc..... no shiny, tinselly decorations. it looked just like a norman rockwell painting.

That is a great idea for a post...very nice work. And I just realized that I made a little rhyme on my last post.

Looking into windows, especially at Christmastime, have a fairytale effect on me. I feel a bit outside the magic but peer in and dream about being more inside it.

It seems as if a lot of bloggers live in Floyd. What is it about Floyd? It seems cozy and small town-ish from your pics.

There are a lot of bloggers in Floyd. It's a one stoplight town with lots of artists, crafters, writers, and an active music scene. The Floyd Country Store Jamboree has been written about numerous times in the Washington Post and other places. There was a recent story about Floyd in the Virginia Living magazine, here: http://www.virginialiving.com/store/back-issues/p/back-issue-june-2007-3099/

Great photos! They all looked so "cozy" and well...small town. I think small towns have a wonderful flavor all their own, especially this time of year.
