My Mind has Fallen

My mind has fallen
down a well
like a shiny coin
has dropped
I sit in silence
and make a wish
waiting for it
to hit
the bottom

Sandy, The link I provided got cut off. I was showing you a picture of my dog driving a car. Here: http://www.looseleafnotes.com/notes/2005/06/all_that_jazz.html
BMM, I took the photo while on a walk two weekends ago. The only time in a month that it rained. I do love self portraits in shadow and reflection. I think the indirect truth is like visual poetry.
The poem is old, written sometime in the late 80's, but I still sometimes feel that way, even today.

Wonderful poem Colleen, in every way...including the photograph....!

I came here after a visit to a friend battling depression. It is that "waiting for it to hit bottom" that's wearing him out. Beautiful Colleen.

Great poem and photo, Colleen. I can certainly relate--I feel that way MOST of the time these days! So, in the poem, when you make the wish, what do you wish for? (I would wish for the sharpness of my mind in my youth, but the maturity of my mind now!)

Your poem and the reflection define for me a feeling that visits, but does not stay for very long.

Oh, so that's what I've been going through. Ha.

I never quite know what words to choose when telling someone why I like one of their poems. Poetry seems to reach beyond the intellectual to a little "aha, I get it" inside my head....
So I'll just say.. I get it. :)

Ah, this is great! Guess if it hits bottom, you can be sure your mind is still here as well as your coin!
