The Nature of Trees

1. Safety in numbers

What great trees and great words to go with them.

These are such great pictures! They remind me of a time back in college when a friend of mine (who ultimately ended up majoring in psychology) walked around campus and "diagnosed" the various trees we saw with different psychological conditions/disorders. If you ever want to know what a paranoid tree looks like, I could probably still tell you!

Michele sent me, Colleen.
The "express yourself" tree was looking like it had a bad hair day. Poor thing--being outed like that when it wasn't at its best.
Thanks for illustrating how expressive trees can be, Colleen.

With winds up to 50 miles per hour this past weekend, ours went from "safety in (colorful)numbers" to "ahead of their time" a bit too prematurely.
"The shape of things to come" is definately in our face in this neck of the woods, with pine cones everywhere (also due to the high winds).

Really enjoying the fall palette this year, thinking how these trees have been hiding their true identies all summer, blending in with their peers, all is green...
Until all at once they show their true personalities in all the different colors, still surprising and wonderful year after year.

Great point, Susan. I should have named the post "Showing their True Colors." Maybe I'll save that for next year.
Of course, you can add me to your link list, Amy. I have a lot of people to add myself, but for some strange reason my "save" feature is disabled and I need to get someone else to do it from their computer, hence I only make changes occasionaly.

Your caption for #5 gives a comforting counterpoint.

Trees are so magnificent, aren't they? I love your little photo vignettes! You really know how to tell a story with the least amount of words :)

With the wind we had for a couple of days, some of our trees look ahead of their time, too!

Charming as always!!

I love this blog format and I have fun making captions for pics! Each tree is different , just like snowflakes.

Some more of your fabulous photos! You told me that you don't have the technical end of photography...I don't know about that, but I do know that you have an artist's eye. They are lovely.

#4 has quite the Phyllis Diller thing going on.

Those winds really stripped some of the green leaves off as well as those that had already changed colors. We have a few of the "nekkid" trees here as well.
