Meditating

The mantra
is the vehicle
that knows
the best shortcut
when my mind
is downtown traffic

if only more people took the time to "be still" and "quiet". a very hard thing in this fast-paced, chaotic world.

What is on the ground in front of him?

Kenju, I don't even know! I didn't even notice it. The photo is of my husband, Joe. I'll ask him and get back to you if I get an answer.

Lovely, Colleen. I wish I were better at meditating but I do take time each day to be quiet.

Looks like a BEAUTIFUL Book! If I didn't have a Yearly Book that I am deeply attached to...for years and years....I would get me one.
I may get one as a gift for someone else, though! Thanks my dear!

I want to learn to meditate but I think I would be a difficult student. It is hard to clear my mind. The thoughts just keep coming in like the planes at a busy airport! I need an air traffic controller!

If you repeat a mantra or passage, you just keep going back to it every time your mind starts thinking thoughts. It's ongoing work but every time you pull your mind back to the mantra you strengthen the muscles in your brain that control the mind.

Beautiful words and photo, and excellent that you're in the calendar!

I can't thank you enough for "introducing" me to We-Moon a few months ago. I have their calendar and I'm mesmerized by the prints for each month. Extraordinary drawings! I visit their website frequently. (also ordered some of their lovely note cards)
And as you'll see from my post on Monday...I'm getting back in touch with "me" by soaking up the water, etc. each morning on my island. There's a lot to be said for meditating and just allowing ourselves to "be."
