The moon is a driving force in my life too, I think. I seem to be sensitive to it and its phases. I wanted to go out and see it last night, since I read that last night's harvest moon was the "largest" appearing this year. But it was overcast, so I couldn't have seen it anyway.

I took this photo the night before. I went up to the Parkway to try and see the fat harvest full moon too, but you're right, it was overcast. I did see an amazing sunset that I hope to post about soon and will try again for the moon again tonight. I don't have the right camera to actually do it justice though.

I can barely sleep when the moon is full. That's a very pretty photo!

there is definately some kind of pull with a full moon. i used to work at a private home and school for children with emotional and behavioral problems due to severe abuse and neglect. the children always seemed more agitated and things seemed to go haywire whenever there was a full moon- it almost never failed! i've heard a lot of other educators and people working in the field of psychology say the same thing.

In buddhist and zen literature, the moon is often a metaphor for the mind...I might be writing a paper on that.

The sky was clear last night.
The moon was huge.
It took me several tries until I figured out that my old, old Nikon camera had a real Manual setting to vary f-stop, and exposure times. So I got some good pictures of the moon.
The weather channel said this was not technically the Harvest moon since it was not yet officially fall. The "official" harvest moon will be around the sixth of October.

What an amazing photo! And I'm so jealous, because I wanted to get out there and snap one of the moon here. It was so bright last night, it lit up the entire yard, and I thought hubby left the spotlights on. I love the autumn harvest moons! So thanks for this great photo.

Beautiful. I too took a moon shot, this morning, and then the fog rolled in. I haven't looked at it yet to see if turned out, though.
They had a partial lunar eclipse in Europe last night, I think it was.

Nice way to look at a moon, visually or verbally.
Looks like a good thinking-being tree.

A bunch of my friends and I were marveling at the moon Wed. night. It is fun to know that so many others watch it too. I love the picture, especially the angle of it framed by the tree. I've copied it for my files...hope that's OK.

Yes, okay Ginnie. I wish the moon looked as big as it did in real life! The moon is closest to the earth this time of year.

This is completely captivating. I love how the tree frames it. Brilliant, as always.
You have a real knack for capturing the uniqueness of your part of the world. It makes me want to add VA to my list of must-visit places. Wait, looks like I just did that!

Great shot and poem! I love the perspective, the way the tree frames and curves around the moon.

Lovely moon; I saw it Friday night over Christiansburg, huge and glowing orange, and wondered how many people noticed.
