In a Word
There’s a word on a Draper Street sidewalk in Blacksburg carved in cement that I love. It says WORD. I wondered then and I continue to wonder who carved it there and why. Maybe someone always wanted to carve a word in wet cement and so they did, literally. It makes me think about the line in the Bible… In the beginning there was the WORD, and sometimes I have the urge to add an L and change it into WORLD.
I found this challenge at ONE WORD:
One hundred nouns. No adverbs, no adjectives. Describing oneself. Go...
Clothespins
Slippers
Mozzarella

Shamrock

Cheers from Michele.

word to your mothah

Far less than 100, I'll tell you that with no charge, Colleen. Of course for a writer like you, 100 words might come to mind a lot easier. For the rest of us, creating words is a laborious practice.
I think I've mentioned it before but I really like the name Colleen. Most of my favorite names are Irish--with Heather at the top of the list. I'm going to do an Irish themed post either today or tomorrow and your name certainly echoes strong in my mind as a result.

No adverbs or adjectives? I will have to think about that for a while!
Your list is good!

Wow, it has to be a noun.
Animals
Trees
Daisies
Lipstick
Sequins
Candles
Islands
Heart
coffee mug, though I am detoxing this week and can't have any...That would the first that come to mind.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far...I have never noticed that word or I had forgotten it...I lived in Blacksburg for one year with my brother while he went to Tech and I went to Radford.

The WORD is in front of where the old Mish Mish used to be. I would walk by it most days on my way from Seeds of Light to Gillies at lunch time.

Loved your discriptive nouns. Hmmm.. I will have to think on this for myself.

My daughter and her friends, when they think something is awesome say "word!". I don't have a clue where they came up with it.

I could probably come up with 100 but it would take some thought. Off the top of my head, I've got: cat, culture, shoes, fire, coffee, opera, ocean, downtown, light, outside (that's kind of a preposition but it's also a noun... it's a place), and bagel.

Boy this is a hard task or is it that I am just boring....

Nice list. My mom always finds shamrocks. It is one of the skills I didn't inherit from her. But she shares them. She said she found one the other day growing in the crack in a sidewalk in downtown Miami, she just had a feeling it would be there.

Since it's after midnight and since right after I got in from work, I went directly to the hooked rug I'm making - I think I'll boil it down to one word. RUG.
It's not as strange as it sounds, when you think of making rugs as an active meditation...or when you think of making rugs as a creative pursuit with a beginning and an end...or when you think of rugs as making color...or when you think of rugs as making our homes warm and friendly...or when you think of making rugs as beauty...or when you think of making rugs as creation...or when you think of making rugs as "one of a kind"...or when you think of making rugs as love.
